Training can bring about change . . .

High quality child care is strongly correlated to caregiver training in early childhood education. Research consistently supports that the quality of early childhood programs is largely determined by the education and training of the providers; there is a definite, positive relationship between training and the quality of care provided.

“Training impacts caregiver behavior, such as the quality of their interactions with children. Better trained providers are more likely to promote positive growth and development of children.”

As a community educator and advocate for children, ChildCareGroup (CCG) promotes legislation that safeguards quality care and education for young children. Training and education will help prepare you, as an early childhood professional and educator, to deliver the best possible child care available to children and families.

In Texas, licensing guidelines are as follows:

  • Child Care Homes: 12 of the 15 training hours required annually for assistant or substitute caregivers can be self-instructional; and, 16 of the 20 hours required annually for primary caregivers can be self-instructional.
  • Child Care Centers: no more than half of the 15 hours required annually can be from self-instructional materials.

For states other than Texas, please contact your local licensing agency to verify that the online course(s) you plan to take meet their qualifications.
